  • Advanced maternal age (35 years or older)
  • Abnormal ultrasound findings associated with fetal chromosome abnormalities
  • Positive serum screening
  • Family history of chromosomal aneuploidies for trisomy 21, 18, 13, or sex chromosome aneuploidies

How is The Qualifi Test performed?

The genetic material from maternal blood sample (7-10 ml) is tested by Qualifi using the Massively Parallel Sequencing to count the number of copies of chromosomes, and then uses a calculation method to predict the risk of chromosomal aneuploidies for Trisomy 21, 18, 13, or sex chromosome aneuploidies presented in fetus. This screening test provides highly sensitive, accurate, and specific results with a very low possibility of false positive or false negative test. However, if a chromosome abnormality is identified, additional diagnostic testing, such as amniocentesis or CVS, is recommended to confirm the result.

What does Qualifi not test for?

The Qualifi Test is able to screen for the most common chromosome aneuploidies (Monosomy or trisomy of chromosomes 21, 18, 13 but it doesn’t screen for all chromosomes, genetic problems and microdeletions. The conditions involving in less effective of Qualifi Test are composed of multiple pregnancies (more than 2 babies), less than 10 weeks pregnant, and obese.
